We decided to up our social media output at the beginning of 2016 (New Years Resolution of sorts). In previous years we had not given our social media marketing approach much thought…that meant every now and then we just posted sometimes interesting information.

Since we have been pushing our social media we have needed to do certain things to allow us to post to our chosen social media platforms. For example Twitter has a character limit of 140 which is more than enough on most occasions but if you have a large url and would also like to add a few words things can get a bit tricky. Luckily we have url shorteners which would make posts urls like this – https://www.digitalconfig.com/massive-google-fails-consistent/ change to http://goo.gl/RCZfJE which is significantly smaller and may be a life saver when using twitter.

By now you must be thinking “what does any of this have to do with Google not being consistent” well…. we chose to use Googles url shortener which is really simple to use and allows you to have some insight into how your shortened url is performing.

We noticed that Google with its massive work force had not found the time to update it’s branding (for a good few months). See image below.

We have marked with a little red dot what needs to be changed in order to bring Googles branding inline across its web services / pages.

Hopes this helps….. Google

As I am writing this on 14.4.2016 Google have found the time to change the logo (top left) but not the font or the logo within the grey box that you paste your url into.
