windows xp

Microsoft created XP back in August 24, 2001 and has provided support for the operating system this past 12 years. But now the time has come for Microsoft to end its support and focus more on the newer versions available like Windows 7 and the latest member of its family to appear on the scene Windows 8.

As a result, after April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, including automatic updates that help protect your PC.

Also – anybody using Microsoft Security Essentials will still be able to do so and continue to receive antimalware signature updates as normal, but for a limited time only. The official download of MSE for Windows XP will end on the 8th along with the OS.

If you continue to use Windows XP after support ends, your computer will still work but it will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. As more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimise for more recent versions of Windows, you can expect to encounter greater numbers of apps and devices that do not work with Windows XP moving forward.
