1) Keyword Strategy. Probably the most important part of ranking locally is to find the right keyword. a great tool for finding your keywords is google keyword planner. You can use this tool to research how often a particular word or phrase is searched on google it will also suggest keywords for you to use.

2) Now you have your keywords its time to put them to work. Using keywords correctly helps Google understand your web site but you have to remember that Google is not the only one reading your website, you have visitors too! you need to get the balance right so Google can understand the website and the website visitor can easily read the web page without getting confused. your keywords should be used in the url, h1’s and other headers, image alt tags, meta tags, and throughout the content on your page. Be careful not to overuse the keyword or Google might see this as keyword stuffing (spamming)

3) having a company profile is a major part of ranking higher in a local search, to obtain a company profile you can open a Google My business page. Complete all the require info and keep it up to date also make sure to verify your website and business address this will help you rank within Google places. Also if your business is listed on any business directory websites make sure the information on the listing is correct, if the information is wrong this could have a negative effect on your rankings.

build relevant back-links

4) Link building still works! if done safely this is probably the fastest way to improve local search results. a good way to get started with your back-link building strategy is to gather a list of your partners, friends, suppliers, wholesales, members, ect. once you have your list, reach out to them and ask them if they would like to exchange links (you link to them and they link to you) It may be worth adding a partners page on your website and linking to them from there.

5) Getting Reviews. A 5-star review left on Google is always great for increasing your ranking in Google places. After you have completed work for a client ask them to leave you a Google review. All they have to do is search your company on Google and on the right-hand side of the search results will be information on your company provided by Google, under the content there will be a section on reviews they can leave a review in this section.
