virus is comingThis week there has been a global report across the media about a new virus sweeping the nation.

This fits in perfectly with this continuation post following on from our last that explains why your computer is running slow.

In our last blog – we discussed how wear and tear can eventually slow down your computers performance and the IT support steps needed to correct this.

Have you caught a Virus?

Having a virus on your computer that pops up advertising or is sending out spam emails in the background without you knowing can also cause the same sluggish effect that you would see with prolonged use.

How a virus gets into your computer without you noticing?

If you have your computer up to date – it can’t? For the most part the latter is true, but just being connected to the internet makes you venerable to attacks. The attackers are always finding new ways of intruding and gathering information from your computer.

9 times out of 10 you have either downloaded some free software like a speed up/performance optimiser or you have opened an attachment or clicked a link in an email you think is from a friend or somebody you know.

The latest online report states this new virus has infected 15,000 computers in the UK and around one million globally and is asking businesses and the public to be alert and keep an eye out for the following symptoms that indicate you have been infected:

What to check for...

If you think you have been infected by this or any other virus, don’t be fooled that an anti-virus or malware software will cure the problem.

Software like this is in place to stop the virus from getting in. If the virus is already on the computer – you must backup your files and restore your computer back to its factory settings, which removes all traces of the infection that can be left behind by removal software.

Our customers are safe! They receive the highest quality IT Support that is designed to prevent these types of issues – so they never have to worry.

As long as they are weary of the attachments they open or links they click in their emails – we take care of the rest – so they don’t have to.

Those without IT Support – at the very least must continually monitor and action the following on their computers:

• Install Windows updates.

• Install antivirus software.

• Do not open an attachment unless you are completely certain of who it’s from.

• Back up your files.

• Strengthen your passwords.
