Digital config at one time was a new business. fortunately we had the skills to design, develop our own website. In the beginning we also had a little bit more time to spare.
For a new business that does not have the skills and time to create a website that they desperately need to help them promote effectively online, it can be difficult to select the best web design company as the choice varies and is large.
Steps when looking for a web design company:
1. Have a look around
As most of us do nowadays, searching the web is the first thing we can do. This will give you an idea of what is around. From the search you may have a handful of company’s that you like the look of.
2. Read the Google reviews
Reading through Google reviews of the companies that take your fancy may help you narrow down the selection you have from your search.
3. If possible speak to their clients
Call or email the web designers clients. We would suggest speaking to clients that have had their website developed that was not so recent. This will give you a good idea of the support the web design company provide and how they treat older customers. Also speak to a client that have just had a project completed. The experience will be a lot fresher in their mind.
What NOT to do when trying to get a website designed and developed for your new business:
1. Don’t try it yourself. Reasons for this are that you should be spending your time on your own business and services that you provide. Obviously if you have the time then give it a go but the learning curve can be long.
2. You may know a friend that can do a website for you not only that but the price they charge is really tempting. We have had so many clients come to us that have chosen this route. At the time it may suite your budget and you may think I can give them a call whenever because I know them.
More often than not they just disappear. When your own business starts to grow and you need your website to grow with it they will not have the resources to support you and your business. One reason for this is they have a job doing something else. Building websites is just something they can do.
At the start Budget is everything?
The cheapest option is not always best and the saying “You get what you pay for” may not be alway’s true.
We would suggest speaking to the web design companies and asking them what it is you are getting for your money. Don’t hesitate or be worried about asking this question and don’t forget to take notes. It is not like buying a pair of shoes you can clearly see displayed and that you know will fit because you have just tried them on.
Monthly payment plans will work for most new start up’s as it allows you to plan and control your money. If a web design company you like does not provide monthly payment plans move on and find one that does. We can’t think of a reason why a web development company would not give this option.
